Chief Engineer

Overview

In this role you serve as System Design Authority for in-service Sensor products, ensuring safety, integrity and ongoing support throughout their lifecycle. You provide technical governance for post-design activities, lead engineering changes and risk management, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to sustain operational capability. You will help shape future capability enhancements and technology insertions while engaging with customers and external stakeholders. This is a governance-focused engineering leadership position in a defence context.

Responsibilities

• Act as Design Authority and Company Technical Signatory for in-service products
• Provide governance for post-design support activities and engineering changes
• Own product integrity, safety, configuration control and lifecycle compliance
• Chair design reviews for Products, Systems and Services
• Support customers in resolving technical issues and sustaining operations
• Lead obsolescence management, technology refresh and field failure investigations
• Maintain safety justification and manage hazards across lifecycle
• Contribute to future capability enhancements and technology roadmaps

Key requirements

• Proven senior-level experience in in-service product support or post-design activities
• Experience in engineering change management and configuration control of in-service products
• Experience with obsolescence management and technology refresh programs
• Experience supporting safety cases, certification maintenance and customer engagements
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders
• Self-motivated leader and team player capable of working with minimal direction
