Senior Adviser

Overview

As Senior Adviser, you will lead statutory oversight of educational quality across settings, driving improvement to secure strong outcomes for children and young people. You will work within a county-wide education team to monitor performance against Ofsted and national standards, identifying gaps and coordinating improvements for both school and non-school provision up to age 25. Your role supports transformation under education policy reform and aligns with Norfolk’s broader plans to expand and strengthen educational services. You will collaborate with schools, settings, and wider partners to shape a high-quality, inclusive education system that delivers sustained impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead the local authority’s statutory functions on educational quality and effectiveness.
• Audit and intervene to secure improvement across all education settings.
• Ensure oversight aligns with Ofsted framework and national standards for provision up to age 25.
• Oversee both school and non-school provision, including settings for young people with Education Health Care Plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive transformation and improvement.

Key requirements

• High-calibre experience as a school or education leader, either currently or in the recent past.
• Experience with Ofsted framework and national standards for educational quality.
• Knowledge of Education Health Care Plans and related provision for ages up to 25.
• Ability to lead audits, plan interventions, and monitor outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement with schools, settings, and partner authorities.
