Overview

Join a market-leading defendant professional negligence practice in Exeter as Associate in Financial & Professional Risks. You will represent policyholders in contentious matters before the County Court, High Court, and redress schemes, coordinating with insurer clients. You will advise on duty, breach, causation, quantum and policy liability, and manage strategy, costs, and reporting. Expect exposure to high-value, novel professional liability matters and opportunities to support marketing and business development within the team.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex professional indemnity, D&O, FI and coverage matters
• Advise on scope of duty, breach, causation, quantum and policy liability issues
• Report to insurer clients with strict service standards, reserving, case planning and strategy
• Apply Civil Procedure Rules knowledge (costs management, funding, Part 36, interim applications, disclosure, expert instructions)
• Stay updated on civil procedure reforms and pilot schemes (Online Court, Fixed Recoverable Costs, Disclosure Pilot)
• Deliver commercial, cost-effective claims solutions via ADR, expert/QC determinations, arbitration, adjudication and negotiation
• Build strong relationships with policyholders, insurers, brokers and Counsel
• Develop a deep understanding of the professional indemnity insurance market and support marketing & business development
