Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Centres) – London or Bicester

Overview

In this role you will design and coordinate mechanical building services, manage small projects, and support project delivery within RED’s low-energy, zero-carbon mission. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop and specify systems, ensure compliance with standards, and engage with clients and contractors. Responsibilities

• Run small projects from initiation to delivery
• Research, design and coordinate mechanical installations and related systems
• Develop and specify controls, instruments, and operating systems for building services
• Survey, test, and report on existing installations
• Define activities to ensure design, manufacturing, construction and testing meet specifications and client requirements
• Represent the company at technical meetings with customers and project teams
• Prepare specification modifications (Word/Excel)
• Ensure calculations and drawings comply with industry and legal standards
• Validate Intermediate & Graduate Engineer input into designs
• Support project delivery per the RED Project Delivery Process (PM, Finance, QA/QC, Technical Review)

Key requirements

• HND or degree qualified or equivalent
• Working towards MCIBSE/MIEE or equivalent
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status
• Experience in specification design/drawing for at least one building type
• Sound knowledge of health and safety issues and legislation
• Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, etc.)
• Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software
• Good understanding of BS standards
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• Managerial skills
• Background in consulting or construction preferred
