Director of Product Design

Overview

As Director of Product Design, you will shape the Carwow experience for customers and dealers, partnering with Product and Engineering to define the product vision for the next few years. You will lead a design team across discovery, buying, selling and dealer tools, aligning web and app experiences into a cohesive platform. You’ll raise design quality, mentor designers, and stay close to customer problems while leveraging data and AI to improve outcomes. This is a chance to influence a high-scale, AI-forward marketplace that connects buyers and dealers and to help build products people love using.

Responsibilities

• Shape long-term product design direction with Product and Engineering leaders
• Design for both customers and dealers, balancing needs across marketplace sides
• Connect discovery, buying, selling across web and app, and unify dealer experience
• Raise design quality and establish high standards while remaining hands-on
• Build and mentor the Product Design team, including hiring and career development
• Engage with customers and dealers, review work, challenge thinking, and tackle hard problems
• Leverage data and experimentation with Product and Analytics to iterate on designs
• Explore practical AI applications to improve the product experience

Key requirements

• Led Product Design in a strong digital product business
• Strong product judgment and craft mindset
• Experience designing for marketplaces/platforms with diverse user types
• Ability to partner with Product and Engineering and influence cross-functional outcomes
• Open to fresh perspectives beyond industry-specific domain knowledge
• Comfort with hands-on, not purely managerial design leadership
