Overview

In this role, you will manage a varied professional indemnity caseload within a top-tier law firm’s Professional & Financial Risks team in Bristol. You will defend and advise on regulatory and risk issues, handle insurers’ policy coverage questions, and support business development while mentoring junior colleagues. The position combines high-quality litigation work with advisory responsibilities and process improvement. You will work hybrid, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver client-focused, commercially sound solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Defend liability claims pre- and post-litigation
  • Advise on regulatory issues, risk management, and Ombudsman complaints
  • Handle policy coverage issues for insurers
  • Work on matters involving a wide range of professions with varying claim values
  • Deliver high-quality outputs aligned with SLAs
  • Contribute to development and improvement of team processes
  • Capture and collate management information for clients
  • Support business development and client relationship management
  • Coach and develop junior team members

Key requirements

  • 5+ years PQE in professional indemnity litigation
  • Insurance experience desirable but not essential
  • Strong knowledge of legal procedures and litigation processes
  • Ability to deliver legal and commercial solutions collaboratively
  • Proven track record of managing and developing client relationships
  • Commitment to business development and identifying commercial opportunities
  • Commercial mindset with awareness of pricing, resourcing, and profitability
  • Leadership skills with experience coaching junior team members
  • Strong organisational skills and efficiency
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal IT systems
