Head of Development – Telco

Overview

In this role you will lead a geographically dispersed engineering team in a telco-focused organisation, driving rapid feature development in an agile environment. You will report to the board and shape the technical roadmap to deliver customer-focused products. You will balance people leadership with delivery discipline to scale impact across the UK and Europe. This is a high-visibility role that shapes the engineering culture and product velocity.

Responsibilities

• Lead a technical team of 30+ individuals using a BDD approach
• Ensure timely development and integration of new products and features
• Optimize team effectiveness and construct a technical roadmap when needed
• Oversee a 50-person team across the UK and Europe
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align delivery with business goals

Key requirements

• 10+ years of experience in a Telco environment or similar
• Experience leading large technical and experienced teams
• Experience working in a service-led organisation
• Proficiency in PHP, .NET, Python and Java
• Previous roles such as Development Manager, Head of Development, or Development Director
