Senior Associate Solicitor – Education – Bath

Overview

In this role you will be a senior member of the Education team, handling complex corporate and M&A matters for education clients and guiding transformation projects. You will collaborate with independent schools and educational organisations, delivering strategic, commercially sound advice and supporting growth. You’ll lead initiatives, mentor juniors and drive cross‑team delivery and business development. The position offers hybrid work from Bath and a pathway within a Tier 1 ranked practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects, transactions and strategic initiatives in the education sector
• Deliver excellent client service with commercially focused outcomes
• Manage budgets, monitor performance and profitability
• Advise on corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions and strategic education projects
• Support education and charity sector work
• Supervise and develop junior colleagues
• Collaborate across teams for integrated sector-focused advice
• Lead business development activities including networking, seminars, pitches and tenders
• Identify new markets and opportunities for growth
• Communicate promptly and professionally with clients and colleagues
• Maintain high technical standards and regulatory compliance
• Stay updated on legal, regulatory and market developments

Key requirements

• Relevant experience in corporate or education M&A transactions
• Strong interest in education law and independent schools
• Experience supervising and developing junior team members
• Proven business development experience and ability to generate revenue streams
• Strong organizational skills to manage projects independently
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle challenging conversations
• Strong financial hygiene (time recording, billing discipline, cost awareness)
