Military Data Centre Engineering Operations (DCEO), Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Overview

In this role you support the operation, monitoring and maintenance of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure that powers AWS cloud services. You work within the DCEO team on 24/7 shift rotations to ensure reliability and safety of power, cooling and related systems. You will perform hands-on maintenance, inspections and troubleshooting to keep mission-critical equipment like generators, UPS, switchgear and cooling running smoothly. This is a collaborative, safety-focused environment where you help sustain scalable data center operations. You will contribute to incident response and documentation while advancing your technical expertise in large-scale facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure
• Conduct routine plant inspections and equipment checks
• Monitor alarms and performance using Building Management System (BMS) and monitoring tools
• Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting across power distribution and cooling systems
• Support operation and testing of generators, UPS, switchgear and cooling equipment
• Supervise vendors performing on-site maintenance or repair work
• Follow permit-to-work and safety procedures for maintenance activities
• Participate in incident response and troubleshooting during infrastructure events
• Maintain maintenance records and operational logs
• Support testing activities including generator tests and failover exercises

Key requirements

• High school or equivalent diploma
• Experience in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, or building/operating systems at scale
• Ability to work flexible shifts in a 24/7/365 environment (nights, weekends, holidays)
• Experience in a logistics/operations environment
• Experience working with electrical or mechanical infrastructure
• Hands-on maintenance, inspections or troubleshooting on plant equipment
• Knowledge of power distribution equipment, generators, UPS, HVAC/cooling systems, pumps and motors
• Ability to follow operational procedures and safety standards
• Preferred: data center engineering or operations experience
