Overview

In this role you support the finance function of an international bank, focusing on operating expense budgeting, cost analysis and regulatory reporting. You will work within the Finance and Accounting team to drive accurate cost allocation, journal entries, and asset registers. The position offers hybrid flexibility in Central London and a path to influence budgeting and compliance in a banking environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely, well-documented financial data and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual operating expense budgets for the Bank and departments
  • Produce monthly operating expense analysis and cost allocation reports
  • Review expenses and receipts for accurate recording and proper departmental allocation
  • Prepare journal entries and amortisation schedules
  • Maintain asset/software registers and prepaid expense reconciliation
  • Identify discrepancies in invoices/payments and escalate for resolution
  • Prepare OPEX and fixed assets reports for Parent Bank and regulators
  • Prepare VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
  • Assist in operating expense system enhancements
  • Gather information for audit requests and support auditors

Key requirements

  • Fluent English; Mandarin preferred
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Finance or Accounting
  • Banking experience with 2+ years in OPEX journal posting roles
  • Strong Excel skills for budgeting and analysis
  • Ability to analyze data to support budgeting and performance monitoring
