As Data Science Manager at Monzo, you lead a team of data scientists and data professionals to embed data-driven decision making across products. You partner with Product and Engineering leaders to set strategic direction and translate insights into product change. You will shape how data science tackles complex problems, delivering measurable customer and business impact. Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Data Scientists and data professionals
• Hire, coach, and retain top talent while fostering an environment for growth
• Set data science direction and identify opportunities for impact
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and senior stakeholders to shape strategy
• Bring rigorous analytics to complex problems and convert insights into opportunities
• Ensure appropriate analytical approaches (experimentation, causal inference, modelling, ML) are used
• Align data science work with measurable customer, product, and commercial outcomes
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineering and ML teams to provide data, tooling, and infrastructure
• Contribute to the broader Data Science discipline to raise performance standards

Key requirements

• Significant experience managing and developing Data Scientists
• Strong strategic data leadership with influence on decisions and direction
• Experience partnering with senior stakeholders across functions and levels
• Comfort working autonomously in a fast-growing, evolving org
• Solid understanding of experimentation, causal inference, statistical analysis and machine learning
• Proficiency with Python and SQL, and ability to select appropriate analytical approaches
• Ability to build credibility with Product, Engineering, and senior leaders and influence without formal authority
• Strong product judgment and experience using Data Science to shape product development and strategy
• Ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatic, business-focused decisions
• Experience helping Data Scientists develop technical, product, and leadership capabilities
