Machine Learning Scientist – Early Scale-Up

Overview

As a Founding Research Scientist, you will shape the research agenda from day one, focusing on Physical AI for real-world robotics. You will lead explorations in robot learning, vision-language-action models, and world models, translating ideas from papers to experiments on robotic hardware. You will define long-term research directions and publish meaningful results, contributing to the company’s mission at the frontier of AI-enabled robotics. This is a high-ownership, equity-backed role in a small, highly technical founding team.

Responsibilities

• Lead research across robot learning, VLAs and world models
• Develop new model architectures, training methods and data strategies
• Explore generalisation across tasks, environments and embodiments
• Translate ideas from papers to real-world robotic experiments
• Help define the company’s long-term research direction
• Publish meaningful research

Key requirements

• Strong research background in ML, robotics or computer vision
• Deep understanding of modern deep learning
• Experience training and evaluating ML models
• Excellent mathematical and experimental instincts
• Ability to form hypotheses and design rigorous experiments
