Senior Trade Compliance Officer / Specialist – Defence

Overview

In this role you will be the senior point for UK and US export compliance within a fast-paced aerospace and defence manufacturing setting. You will work with engineering, logistics and senior leadership to manage licensing, documentation and data integrity across growth-focused programmes. You’ll help implement compliant processes, support audits, and raise awareness through training. This position offers hands-on impact in safeguarding regulatory compliance while enabling business success.

Responsibilities

• Support site compliance with internal trade compliance policies and UK/US import/export regulations
• Manage UK/US export authorisations and licensing activities
• Assist site Trade Compliance Lead with engineering, logistics, sales, and supply chain stakeholders
• Review export documentation and customs entries for accuracy and compliance
• Maintain trade compliance data including HTS classifications, origin, records and broker interactions
• Perform denied party screening and support export release activities
• Keep licences and export documentation in auditable records
• Support internal and external audits, self-assessments and corrective actions
• Deliver and support trade compliance training across the business
• Collaborate with UK and corporate Trade Compliance leads and contribute to investigations and site projects

Key requirements

• Experience or working knowledge of UK and/or US import and export regulations
• Exposure to export licensing or strong motivation to develop in this area
• Strong attention to detail and organized documentation
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with internal stakeholders
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with competing priorities
• Strong ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive information
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical approach
