Project Planner/ Planning Engineer – Civil Rail

Overview

In this role you will develop, optimise and manage project planning for a high-profile station redevelopment in Central London. You will collaborate with the project team to align schedules with contract obligations, reporting progress and engaging with clients. You’ll ensure planning interfaces with other departments and contribute to governance, best practices and value-for-money benchmarking. This is an opportunity to shape planning deliverables on a major rail project within a Tier 1 contractor’s framework.

Responsibilities

• Build, optimise and implement planning and programmes including resources, outages, consents and way leaves
• Create trackers to capture weekly/monthly progress
• Develop understanding of NEC contracts and requirements
• Collaborate with project team, attend site meetings and update the plan
• Represent the business at client meetings
• Coordinate with Planning Manager to interface planning with other departments
• Support programme integration, governance, formats, plan optimisation and planning best practices
• Gather benchmarking information for Value For Money assessment
• Monitor and control programme compliance with contractual obligations

Key requirements

• 3 years+ experience including Civil Rail Projects with a Sub/Main Contractor
• Proven experience with planning (P6) and understanding NEC contracts
• Progressed from an engineering background (e.g., Site, Section Engineer, Planning Engineer)
• HND/Degree level education in a relevant discipline
• Eligibility to work in the UK
• P6 knowledge (not necessarily a P6 Planner)
• Desirable: PTS, CSCS Card
