Principal / Associate Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead and own civil infrastructure projects within a diverse portfolio, shaping designs and mentoring engineers. You’ll work across feasibility, design, planning and construction, coordinating with clients and authorities to deliver practical solutions. You’ll influence the team’s growth and project delivery while maintaining high technical standards. Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of civil engineering and infrastructure projects
• Lead design of highways, external works, levels, earthworks and site infrastructure
• Develop drainage strategies and SuDS, foul and surface water drainage solutions
• Manage projects, programmes, resources, fees and deliverables
• Review and sign off technical work by engineers and technicians
• Provide direction and technical support to project teams
• Collaborate with clients, architects and other disciplines to develop practical, coordinated solutions
• Liaise with Highway Authorities, LLFAs, water companies and other statutory bodies
• Support fee proposals, project planning and commercial management
• Mentor and develop engineers and technicians
• Support growth of the wider Civil Engineering team

Key requirements

• Senior level experience in a UK civil engineering consultancy
• Strong background in infrastructure, drainage and development-related civil engineering
• Chartered status, or significant progress towards Chartership
• Knowledge of SuDS, flood risk and drainage principles
• Experience with highways, levels, earthworks, external works and site infrastructure
• Ability to review technical work and provide clear direction
• Good commercial understanding including project fees, resources and programmes
• Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow or comparable software
• Effective communication with clients and multidisciplinary teams
• Strong knowledge of relevant UK standards and design guidance
