Overview
In this role you support the Site Manager to run a residential development site, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-conscious delivery of homes. You help maintain high quality and customer service while adhering to timelines and building regulations. You work closely with health and safety teams and frontline staff to guide day-to-day site operations. This is a hands-on, collaborative position within Bellway’s Construction team, offering a clear path to deputise for the Site Manager when needed.

Responsibilities
- Support the Site Manager with daily site operations and provide clear direction to site staff
- Assist with health and safety procedures in partnership with Health and Safety Managers
- Motivate and manage site staff; provide toolbox talks, training and coaching
- Maintain site presentation to required standards
- Support delivery of production requirements according to technical and planning documentation
- Ensure compliance with building regulations and NHBC/LABC requirements
- Assist with production/progress reporting to Construction Manager/Director
- Contribute to quality control, rectify defects to avoid delays and extra cost
- Support cost control and payment approvals to contractors
- Maintain site records (reports, labour, plant, materials, inductions, H&S records)
- Oversee NHBC key stage inspections and ensure remedial work is completed in advance
- Collaborate with sales to ensure smooth delivery of homes
- Conduct New Home demonstrations and customer tours per customer-first procedures
- Provide excellent customer service in line with company guidelines
- Possibly deputise for the Site Manager when required
- Willingness to be flexible with duties and hours; travel to sites as needed
Key requirements
- Experience as an Assistant Site Manager with a high-volume residential builder
- Experience in effectively managing teams
- Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety, building legislation and NHBC standards
- GCSE Maths and English – Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Valid CSCS card at Site Manager level (or equivalent)
- Valid SMSTS certificate
- Valid First Aid certificate
- Construction Management qualifications (HNC/HND/NVQ) desirable
- Scaffold Appreciation certificate desirable
- LOLER certificate desirable
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Methodical, organised and capable of high standards
- Proficient IT skills; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to interpret technical and planning documentation
