Senior Associate (Non-Contentious Construction)

Overview

In this Senior Associate role, you support a Projects, Development & Construction team within a well-established law firm, handling complex non-contentious construction matters for clients across the UK and internationally. You will advise on a broad spectrum of construction and development projects, draft and negotiate contracts, and help manage risk on live matters. You’ll oversee multiple files, mentor junior lawyers, and contribute to business development and sector knowledge. The position offers hybrid/flexible working and a client-focused, collaborative culture with opportunities to shape a growing practice and impact outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Advise on construction and development projects across sectors (commercial, residential, infrastructure, healthcare, education, renewables)
• Draft and negotiate contracts including JCT, NEC, FIDIC and bespoke agreements
• Support risk management on live projects (payments, delays, compliance)
• Manage multiple matters with high-quality output and deadlines
• Supervise and mentor junior team members
• Contribute to business development and sector knowledge growth

Key requirements

• Qualified solicitor with 6 years of non-contentious construction experience
• Proven expertise in standard form contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC) and bespoke arrangements
• Knowledge of market expectations and commercial compromises
• Ability to manage complex matters including due diligence and large-scale development
• Strong organizational skills and workload management
