Lead Software Engineer- Python / Java- (Cloud Data Platform — AWS/Databricks/Terraform)

Overview

In this Lead Software Engineer role, you will drive secure, scalable software solutions within the Credit Data Pond team of Wholesale credit risk technology. You will serve as a core technical contributor, delivering production-grade code and guiding AI-assisted engineering practices across the SDLC. You will champion secure coding, automated testing, and consistency in architecture and patterns to improve reliability and speed. You will work with cross-functional teams and external partners to shape scalable, trusted technology that supports business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop secure, high-quality production code and review others’ code
• Lead adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices with governance and validation standards
• Establish AI-assisted SDLC guardrails for design, coding, testing, deployment, and operations
• Implement repeatable AI-assisted review workflows and quality gates
• Standardize tools across planning, code, build, test, security scanning, release, and operations
• Design CI/CD pipelines with measurable outcomes to improve release reliability
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring issues for stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs

Key requirements

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
• Python
• Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operations
• Advanced in one or more programming languages
• Experience leading use of AI-assisted software development tools with validation of AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity, and secure handling
• Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Knowledge of the financial services industry IT systems
• Practical cloud-native experience
