Cost Controller – Defence

Overview

Senior Cost Controller role within Turner & Townsend’s Infrastructure-Defence team in Bristol and the South West. You will tailor cost control approaches, maintain cost systems, and support decision-making with robust cost reporting. You’ll collaborate with Finance, Commercial, and Project Managers to align cost information and manage accruals and earned value. The position offers exposure to high-profile defence infrastructure projects and a chance to grow within an award-winning cost control community.

Responsibilities

• Tailor cost control approaches to client needs and align with best practice
• Promote cost control benefits within the project team
• Implement, administer, and maintain cost control systems for budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts
• Develop CBS and align budgets with WBS to track costs
• Map cost estimates to WBS and set budgets against Work Packages and Control Accounts
• Build relationships with interfacing disciplines (Finance, Commercial, Project Managers) for aligned information
• Lead accrual production to reflect Actual Cost of Work Performed timely
• Provide cost reporting tooling and regular Cost reports including EVMS analysis
• Provide cost information for status reports and performance management decisions
• Train and coach clients and junior team members on cost control processes

Key requirements

• Demonstrable experience in Cost Control
• Familiarity with cost performance reporting and forecasting techniques
• Experience leading Cost Control Assurance activities
• In-depth understanding of Earned Value Management, progress and performance reporting
• Practical experience with MS Excel and other MS applications
• Familiarity with at least one Cost Control tool
• Understanding of Scheduling, Risk Management, Reporting, Change Control interactions with Cost Control
• Familiarity with NEC contracts
• Ability to travel to client sites across the region
• SOLE British national with current security clearance or ability to obtain it
