Consultant Psychiatrist at South & West CMHT

Overview

In this role you will provide specialist psychiatric leadership within the South & West CMHT to a diverse working-age adult caseload. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver recovery-focused, person-centred care across clinics, home visits and hospital settings. You will supervise junior staff, contribute to teaching, governance and quality improvement, and help shape future service developments. Responsibilities

• Assess and medically review patients
• Provide clinical leadership across the multidisciplinary team
• Maintain outpatient clinics, case reviews, and home visits
• Conduct Mental Health Act assessments and tribunal reporting
• Liaise with primary care and partner services
• Supervise junior doctors and nurse prescribers
• Contribute to teaching and training
• Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement
• Engage in service development planning
• Utilise dedicated SPA time for CPD, leadership, and research

Key requirements

• Higher qualification in psychiatry (MRCPsych or equivalent) and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility
• AC and S12 approval (or eligible for approval) at interview
• Experience in General Adult Psychiatry with strong clinical skills
• Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and supervise junior staff
• Experience in teaching, audit and clinical governance
• Current UK registration and right to work
