Overview
In this role you support the Private Client team in Cardiff, focusing on wills, probate, and trusts to support high‑value estates. You will manage a broad caseload, provide pragmatic advice, and nurture client relationships while developing the department strategically. You’ll supervise junior colleagues and contribute to business development, all within a collaborative, regulated environment. Responsibilities
- Manage a broad and varied caseload (wills, estate planning, probate, trusts)
- Provide clear, commercially focused advice
- Handle sensitive matters with minimal supervision
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships
- Supervise and mentor junior solicitors, trainees and support staff
- Play an active role in business development and networking
- Ensure regulatory and professional compliance
- Contribute to strategic growth of the Private Client department
- Maintain meticulous file management, time recording and billing
Key requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 5-8 years PQE
- Strong experience across wills, probate and trusts
- STEP qualification (or working towards) highly desirable
- Ability to manage a complex caseload independently
- Excellent drafting, analytical and problem solving skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Experience supervising junior team members
- Demonstrable business development experience
