Overview

As a Test Equipment Design Engineer in Production Design Support, you will lead engineering activities to assist manufacturing and shape test equipment. You will act as a bridge between design and production teams, ensuring smooth delivery of designs into the manufacturing environment. You will tackle design-related issues, drive robust corrective actions, and mentor others while applying full lifecycle knowledge. This role offers growth in a collaborative, cross-functional setting within a leading defence organisation. You will contribute to impactful projects on site in Bolton, with opportunities to influence product and test equipment design and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead production design support activities and provide test equipment design input to manufacturing
• Interface between design teams and manufacturing, collaborating with other support engineers
• Shape product and test equipment designs and ensure they meet manufacturing needs
• Deliver autonomous work packages, manage stakeholders, and ensure on-time delivery
• Investigate design issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement robust corrective actions
• Apply full product lifecycle knowledge and mentor engineers and technicians
• Contribute to RF/antenna design, electrical architecture, and safety/integrity considerations as part of the design scope

Key requirements

• Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience
• Experience designing products/systems or supporting designs through manufacturing
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborative mindset
• Autonomous work style with stakeholder engagement to deliver outputs
• Experience managing discrete work packages, bids, costs, and solutions
• Root cause analysis capabilities
• Full product lifecycle knowledge
• Willingness to mentor others
• Experience in RF and antenna design, electrical architecture, design for safety/integrity, or RF test and measurement knowledge
