Overview

As a Senior Software Development Engineer for AWS CloudFront in London, you will help deliver reliable, scalable edge-centric services at global scale. You will work with a cross-functional team to prototype, design, and ship features that improve video and web delivery for millions of users. You’ll own architecture decisions and contribute to the full SDLC in a fast-moving, iterative, customer-focused environment. Responsibilities

• lead the architecture and design of new and existing systems for edge delivery services
• build scalable web services backed by cloud infrastructure, with a focus on performance and reliability
• drive the full software development lifecycle, including reviews, testing, and operations
• mentor and guide engineers, fostering growth and ownership within the team
• collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver high-impact features at scale
• operate and debug large-scale systems, optimizing for low latency and cost

Key requirements

• experience leading engineering teams or serving as tech lead
• proficiency in at least one modern language (Java, C++, or C#) with object-oriented design
• professional software development experience (non-internship)
• experience shaping architecture and design for reliable, scalable systems
• 3+ years of recent development experience
• strong knowledge of networking protocols (HTTP(S), DNS, TCP/IP)
• experience with web services technologies (SOAP, HTTP, REST, WSDL, XSD)
• ability to manage the lifecycle of software products from concept to launch
• strong communication skills and ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• experience with large-scale web services and cloud environments (AWS)
