• Support development and delivery of underwriting strategy and appetite
• Analyse portfolio and pricing performance to identify trends and opportunities
• Use market intelligence to ensure competitiveness and viability of products
• Collaborate with stakeholders to grow portfolio aligned with financial objectives
• Provide technical underwriting expertise and act as senior referral for complex risks
• Review risk selection and pricing strategies for portfolio improvement
• Collaborate with pricing and analytics teams to enhance pricing accuracy
• Provide insights into market developments and their impact on performance
• Support underwriting governance, controls and first-line risk management
• Contribute to senior committees with data-led analysis and recommendations
• Guide and direct junior underwriting and performance teams

Key requirements

• Extensive experience within commercial or specialist underwriting
• Strong technical underwriting and product knowledge
• Understanding of pricing methodologies and portfolio management
• Excellent analytical skills with advanced Excel capability
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify profitable growth opportunities
• Experience using data and market intelligence to inform underwriting decisions
• Confidence operating within a sophisticated governance and control environment
