Software Architect – Python & .NET.

Overview

As a Software Architect, you will lead the design and delivery of integrated software platforms for automation clients. You stay close to implementation, guiding cross-functional teams to create scalable, secure systems that connect enterprise apps, real-time data, and physical equipment. You translate requirements into practical technical solutions and set architecture standards and roadmaps. This role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership to modernise legacy systems and deliver dependable integrations. You will work in a collaborative environment that values real-world impact and strong problem-solving across complex automation domains.

Responsibilities

• Define software architecture for complex automation and integration projects
• Design scalable, secure, maintainable apps using C#/.NET, Python and Django
• Establish architectural standards, design principles and roadmaps
• Translate requirements into practical technical solutions
• Design platforms that integrate business apps, databases, automation systems and equipment
• Define service boundaries, APIs, data flows and integration patterns
• Produce architecture diagrams, designs, data models and docs
• Lead full software development lifecycle and provide technical guidance
• Conduct architecture/design/code reviews and ensure standards
• Remain hands-on with prototyping and problem solving
• Identify risks, dependencies and performance issues
• Set security, resilience, scalability, testing and observability standards
• Collaborate with engineers, automation specialists, PMs and partners
• Contribute technically in customer workshops and project planning
• Support resolution of complex software/system integration issues
• Develop reusable components and configurable platforms for multiple projects
• Support modernisation of legacy/monolithic systems
• Mentor engineers and promote high-quality practices

Key requirements

• Experience as Software Architect or similar senior technical lead
• Strong commercial software engineering with C# and .NET
• Proficient in Python and Django for production-grade apps
• Track record architecting complex, integrated platforms
• Solid understanding of architecture principles and design patterns
• Experience designing REST APIs, web services and multi-system interfaces
• Knowledge of microservices, distributed and event-driven architectures
• Experience with SQL databases and data modelling
• Understanding of asynchronous messaging and service-to-service communication
• Experience with cloud/on-prem/hybrid deployments
• Knowledge of Docker and containerisation
• Familiarity with CI/CD, source control, automated testing and DevOps
• Security, performance, resilience, scalability and maintainability considerations
• Ability to create clear architecture diagrams and design docs
• Strong communication to explain technical decisions to diverse stakeholders
• Willingness to remain hands-on to support delivery
• experience in warehouse automation or intralogistics is advantageous
