Associate Director – Transport – Edinburgh or Glasgow

Overview

In this role you will lead transport planning across major highways and infrastructure projects, working within the North Transport Team to support delivery for developers and public sector clients. You’ll manage transport planning outputs, guide multidisciplinary inputs, and drive project success in terms of quality, programme, and budget. Expect client-facing responsibilities, mentoring, and active involvement in securing new work. Responsibilities

• Lead transport planning inputs to complex infrastructure and development projects
• Manage project progress, quality, and finances
• Instruct, supervise, and check transport planning work from internal and external teams
• Mentor colleagues in transport planning and project management
• Develop and maintain client relationships and report project progress to stakeholders
• Support work winning through client-facing activities and proposals
• Ensure compliance with National Planning Procedures and relevant contracts
• Coordinate transport planning deliverables within multidisciplinary teams

Key requirements

• Chartered transport professional status preferred (ICE or CIHT)
• Extensive experience in producing transport planning inputs for development projects
• Experience with National Highways or County Council-led projects
• Knowledge of National Planning Procedures
• HNC/degree in Civil Engineering or similar construction-related qualification
• Ability to lead and manage client relationships and project reporting
