Senior UX Researcher

Overview

In this role you will lead hands-on UX research and usability testing to ensure excellent experiences across Elekta’s hardware and software products. You will work closely with UX researchers and cross-functional teams to shape usability strategy aligned with regulatory requirements. You will plan and execute studies, document results, and contribute to usability documentation for regulatory submissions. This position offers the chance to influence product releases in a mission-driven medical-technology environment. You will join a collaborative team focused on delivering safe, user-centered solutions for healthcare professionals and patients.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on UX research and usability testing to ensure excellent product experiences
• Define usability strategy aligned with program objectives and regulatory submission strategies
• Plan, scope, and execute UX research activities to meet product and business needs
• Conduct contextual studies, interviews, surveys, task and use error analyses, reviews, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing
• Report study results and workshop outcomes; manage resources to meet objectives
• Collaborate with delivery leads, engineers, product managers, and clinical experts
• Act as subject matter expert on usability engineering within the product release team
• Identify risks early and escalate issues when needed
• Improve UX research and usability processes and communicate business value of UX activities
• Manage subcontracted agencies for usability testing, including recruitment and RfQs
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and PI-planning; communicate plans and risks
• Review deliverables and coach junior team members

Key requirements

• 4+ years of experience as an individual contributor in human factors, usability, or UX research
• Experience with regulated medical devices and usability engineering
• Proficiency in multiple UX research methods (contextual studies, interviews, surveys, use error analyses, reviews, heuristic evaluations, usability testing)
• Strong knowledge of medical device regulations and standards (IEC 62366, FDA HF guidelines, ISO 14971)
• Ability to select appropriate methods per context
• Comfort with continuous learning and clinical terminology
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and workshop tools (Miro, FigJam, LucidChart)
• Good understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban; familiarity with SAFe and PI-planning preferred
