Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design and deliver mechanical solutions from concept through installation, collaborating with clients and fabrication teams to ensure practical, cost-efficient outcomes. You will own multiple projects, perform calculations and site surveys, and ensure compliance with standards and safety requirements. You will continuously seek design improvements to enhance efficiency and quality. This position offers hands-on ownership, direct client interaction, and the chance to shape end-to-end engineering delivery.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed manufacturing and general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
• Interpret client briefs and convert ideas into practical engineering solutions
• Collaborate with clients, suppliers, fabrication teams and installation crews to ensure smooth project execution
• Carry out engineering calculations, site surveys and technical assessments
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and deadlines
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, best practices and safety requirements
• Pursue smarter, more efficient design and process improvements

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Previous Mechanical Design Engineer experience in manufacturing, construction or similar environment
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
• Understanding of engineering principles, materials and fabrication processes
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Strong organisational abilities to juggle multiple projects
• Full UK driving licence for site visits
