Principal Software Engineer – Full Stack

Overview

In this Principal Software Engineer role, you will lead high-impact engineering work for Accenture’s Software & Platform Engineering team in Manchester with ad hoc UK travel. You’ll steer client delivery, balancing hands-on technical work with team leadership to ensure strong outcomes. You’ll work across domains and stacks, shaping product engineering while keeping focus on value, quality, and delivery speed. Responsibilities

• Lead client accounts holistically, overseeing people, delivery, quality, and commercial aspects
• Advocate for value-driven engineering and simple, low-complexity solutions
• Lead and grow engineering teams; mentor and develop junior engineers
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to drive results
• Contribute to internal and regional engineering communities and share knowledge
• Deliver backend services across multiple integration paradigms (synchronous, message-driven, event-driven) and ensure cloud-native deployment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adapt tech stacks per client needs
• Promote DevOps practices and automated testing in project delivery

Key requirements

• Significant experience leading teams and growing engineers’ careers
• Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders expecting measurable results
• Extensive backend service experience across integration paradigms (synchronous, message-driven, event-driven)
• Fluency in Java, C#, Python, TypeScript, or React
• Recent experience building, deploying, and running cloud-native apps on AWS and/or Azure
• Experience defining strategies and delivering products/services using AI capabilities (Agentic AI)
• Comfort working in DevOps environments and implementing automated tests
