Senior Associate – Marine, Trading & Commodities

Overview

In this role you join Clyde & Co’s London Marine Assets and Projects Team to handle a broad set of transactional maritime matters for owners, operators, and major energy clients. You will work closely with corporate, marine litigation and international offices to manage shipbuilding contracts, ship sale & purchase, financing, bareboat charters, and long-term time charters. You will support complex transactions across diverse vessel types, driving commercially sound outcomes. This is a globally connected opportunity to influence deal execution and contract strategy within a respected, inclusive law firm.

Responsibilities

• Core member of the London Marine Assets and Projects Team and collaboration with cross-functional practice areas
• Manage shipbuilding contracts, ship sale & purchase (with supervision), ship financing, bareboat charters, and long-term time charters
• Support and steer transactions through to closure, prioritising a full and varied caseload
• Work with international offices and other practice areas to deliver commercial, efficient advice
• Draft and negotiate contracts and related documentation for complex marine projects

Key requirements

• 3-4 years PQE in marine transactional work
• comfortable working knowledge of BIMCO
• practising certificate in England & Wales (Solicitors Act 1974 CPD requirements)
• strong legal ability and initiative
