Senior Electrical Engineer

Overview

As Technical Lead for an electrical engineering team at the Fawley site, you will guide reliability and safety across maintenance and process units. You contribute expert electrical input to project work, design bases, and equipment strategies, driving fleet health and risk-based decisions. You lead technical development within the team and mentor colleagues on performance and leadership. This role blends site operations with occasional remote work, offering a meaningful chance to shape asset reliability and safety culture. You play a pivotal part in sustaining safe, compliant, and efficient electrical systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist electrical engineering advice to Process and Maintenance Departments on demand, reliability improvements, and equipment strategy.
• Support projects with screening studies, design bases, and specifications for specialist electrical work.
• Advise management on electrical safety, infrastructure, and technology issues.
• Provide technical leadership and ownership of electrical fleet health.
• Oversee technical development of the team and give feedback on performance and leadership behaviours.

Key requirements

• Engineering degree in electrical engineering
• Chartered Engineer (Engineering Council or equivalent)
• Experience in an operational COMAH facility, preferably refining or petrochemical
• Familiarity with Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and DSEAR
• Troubleshooting and fault-finding of electrical equipment
• Experience with high voltage switchgear
• Experience with generators
• Experience with UPS systems
• Experience with protection systems
• Support of major maintenance activities such as plant shutdowns
