Overview

Join a Cambridge-based spin-out biotech company as a Principal/Senior Mechanical Engineer to accelerate the design, development, and testing of a novel life-saving biotech manufacturing device. You will lead hardware work, collaborating with physicists, scientists, electronics and design engineers to move from concept to proof-of-concept. You will work with 3D CAD, ideally SOLIDWORKS, and contribute across startup-scale operations, including cross-functional meetings and conferences. Responsibilities

• Lead hardware design and development of the biotech manufacturing device
• Use 3D CAD (ideally SOLIDWORKS) to deliver mechanical concepts
• Collaborate with Medical Devices Physicists, Scientists, Electronics Engineers, and Design Engineers
• Support testing, validation, and iterative prototyping
• Engage with cross-functional stakeholders and potentially attend conferences and trade shows
• Contribute to a startup/scale-up environment and wear multiple hats as needed

Key requirements

• Experience in mechatronics, automation, robotics, or complex electro-mechanical systems
• Proven CAD capability with 3D CAD; SOLIDWORKS preferred
• Background in Medical Devices, Biotech, Scientific Design consultancy, or related sectors considered
• Degree required; Masters preferred in a related field
• Previous startup/scale-up or multi-hat roles advantageous
