Human Rights Lawyer – Liverpool 3-6

Overview

In this role you will manage Human Rights client cases to high standards and support objectives related to inquests, inquiry work, and CAPA caseload. You will work within the civil litigation team to advise on liability, costs, funding, and litigation strategy, guiding cases from pre-litigation through trial or settlement. The role involves client and witness interviews, preparing documents, and coordinating resources to meet tribunal deadlines. You will collaborate with counsel and support professional growth through knowledge sharing and external engagements. This is a client‑facing, impact‑driven position at a firm focused on sensitive public‑interest work.

Responsibilities

• Gather client information and analyze claims; advise on liability, costs, and funding
• Ensure insurance coverage and conditions are met
• Interview clients and witnesses; prepare settlement advice, statements, documents, schedules of loss, tribunal bundles
• Attend interlocutory and short hearings; brief counsel and assist with court proceedings
• Advise on litigation strategy; pursue pre-litigation settlement or manage case to trial and post‑settlement
• Guide clients, including those lacking capacity, in informed decision‑making
• Coordinate resources and deploy experts and witnesses
• Monitor progress and adhere to tribunal deadlines and civil procedures
• Contribute to firm growth through knowledge sharing and collaboration
• Attend relevant professional events and seminars
