Overview

In this role you will support model risk governance by validating and enhancing risk models across Schroders. You will work with cross-functional teams to review, challenge, and improve models and related documentation, delivering clear validation findings. You will contribute to automation and tool development to strengthen risk management and provide actionable recommendations to be used by senior governance committees. This is a hands-on, analytical role in a fast-paced environment that shapes risk oversight for multiple asset classes.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in team-led research to review, challenge and validate models across all asset classes and support new product development
  • Produce high-quality model validation reports and enhance the firm’s model governance framework (policies, standards, controls, documentation)
  • Present validation conclusions and risks to the Group Model Governance Committee with actionable recommendations
  • Support development, enhancement and implementation of risk models and contribute to projects requiring advanced quantitative techniques
  • Design and develop tools and automation to strengthen risk management, improving efficiency, control and transparency
  • Contribute to monitoring activities for business-critical tools, including testing, performance monitoring, issue identification and remediation tracking

Key requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification in a quantitative discipline (Master’s or equivalent)
  • Substantial experience in investment, quantitative modelling or risk management, ideally in asset management / buy side
  • Programming experience in Python and/or R with well-structured, testable code
  • Experience with AI / machine learning models, including design, monitoring and validation considerations
  • Comfort with autonomy and ownership, proactive in identifying weaknesses and proposing solutions
  • Evidence-based, clear communicators who can challenge constructively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with stakeholders across the firm
