Senior Civil Engineer – Energy

Overview

As a Senior Civil Engineer at Stantec’s Energy & Resources team, you’ll contribute to a diverse portfolio across waterpower, waste, transmission, and minerals sectors, shaping cleaner, more resilient energy infrastructure. You’ll work through the full project lifecycle within a multidisciplinary team, delivering innovative civil solutions and supporting advisory and delivery activities. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge hydropower, energy-from-waste, and other energy projects, with opportunities to influence design coordination and client outcomes. You will be part of a forward-thinking consultancy focused on sustainable growth and value creation in the UK energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to projects from concept through to detailed design and site support
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative civil solutions for energy projects
• Engage in advisory and delivery roles, including Owner’s Engineer duties and contractor-facing design
• Coordinate across civil, structural, geotechnical, and M&E disciplines for integrated designs
• Support due diligence activities, troubleshooting, and installation support
• Collaborate with project managers, technical leaders, and clients to ensure high-quality outcomes
• Participate in design in 3D environments and use of Common Data Environments (CDEs)
• Contribute to project risk management and continuous improvement across the team

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Progress towards Chartered Engineer status with the Engineering Council and ICE
• Experience in civil design across Waterpower, Hydropower, energy-from-waste, or transmission and distribution
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary team integration for delivery
• Experience producing technical specifications, designs, and reports with cross-discipline coordination
• Ideally experience delivering designs for end clients and design & build contractors
• Confidence working in a 3D design environment and CDEs
