AHP Workforce and Education Lead

Overview

As AHP Workforce Lead you will provide strategic leadership for workforce development across GWH, driving innovative practice and inclusive preceptorship. You’ll coordinate undergraduate activity, support apprenticeship expansion, and strengthen career pathways in extended scope and ACP routes. Working with AHP managers, HR, and HEI partners, you will ensure high standards of education and staff development while fostering compassionate, governance-led workforce practice. You will oversee mentorship and data management, build cross-site relationships, and align with organisational priorities to support trusted, sustainable workforce growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for AHP workforce development across GWH
• Lead and coordinate undergraduate activity and student placements
• Support return-to-practice and apprenticeship expansion
• Strengthen career pathways including extended scope, ACP routes, leadership development, and research opportunities
• Collaborate with AHP managers, HR, HEI partners, and system colleagues
• Oversee mentorship and preceptor capability
• Manage learner-related data and relationships with service leads
• Contribute to trust-wide AHP initiatives and support AHP Staff Council
• Provide professional leadership and project management, delegating support to the AD for AHPs
• Ensure effective communication, safe learning culture, and alignment with organisational priorities

Key requirements

• Registered AHP
• Master’s Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
• Significant experience as a clinical AHP
• Up to date knowledge of HCPC standards and NHS long term workforce plan
• Significant post-registration experience at band 7 or above
• Desirable: Management experience, Experience of achieving AHP strategic drivers, Understanding of AHP workforce planning and barriers, Cross-organisational collaboration
