Senior Risk Control Surveyor

Overview

In this role you will support underwriting strategies by conducting risk surveys and producing reports. You will assist the UK Survey Team Manager to lead the Regional Risk Control Team and promote risk management services to brokers and clients. You will stay current on technical and legal risk management issues to keep the Risk Control Team and Underwriting informed on developments. You will participate in audits and cross‑functional initiatives to enhance risk services and Arch’s market reputation. You will work in Arch’s collaborative, expert culture to enable progress for clients and partners.

Responsibilities

• Perform risk surveys per year following technical guidance and deliver reports with risk improvements within service standards
• Support the management, motivation and training of the survey team with the UK Survey Team Manager and Technical Manager – Risk Control
• Maintain knowledge of technical and legal risk issues and share updates with the risk control and underwriting teams
• Help conduct audits of Risk Surveyors to ensure technical standards and identify development needs
• Collaborate with other parts of the organization and lead initiatives to enhance risk management services and market reputation

Key requirements

• Knowledge of the Company’s Underwriting Strategy and the role of Risk Control in delivering it
• Technical knowledge across manufacturing, distribution, leisure and service trades
• Understanding of risk exposures (fire, perils, business interruption, theft/security, liabilities)
• Time management, prioritisation and delegation
• Strong communication, negotiation and closing skills
• Training/coaching and presentation abilities
• Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Driving Licence
• Chartered Insurance Institute: CIP/ACII
• Institute of Risk Management: CMIRM
• NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent
• 10+ years surveying experience across multiple trades
• Experience delivering training/presentations to diverse audiences
