Principal Fire Engineer

Overview

In this Principal Fire Engineer role, you lead and grow a local fire engineering team within a renowned infrastructure consultancy. You will deliver end-to-end fire engineering solutions, from inception to completion, with a focus on UK regulations and sector-specific applications. You’ll mentor junior engineers, manage design projects and cost estimates, and drive performance reviews. Responsibilities

• Deliver projects from inception to completion with minimal senior oversight, including CFD and evacuation modelling
• Manage design projects and review team work
• Apply fire engineering knowledge across sectors with emphasis on UK regulations and markets
• Develop new problem-solving approaches using modified standard procedures
• Participate in interdisciplinary project reviews and develop accurate cost estimates
• Lead Performance & Review processes for junior engineers and set SMART goals
• Mentor less experienced staff towards Chartership
• Contribute to fee proposals and task variations for fire engineering activities

Key requirements

• Relevant degree or professional qualification
• Chartered status (CEng) in Fire Engineering or related discipline
• Experience in a consultancy or relevant business
• Experience across multiple sectors with focus on UK regulations and markets
• Experience managing fire engineering aspects of small to medium design projects within timescales and budgets
• Experience guiding entry level fire engineers
• Experience preparing fee proposals and task variations
