Associate Director Construction Planner – Programme Scheduler

Overview

As Senior Construction Planner, you will lead planning and scheduling for multiple major infrastructure programmes, shaping delivery through integrated schedules and robust controls. You will mentor colleagues, elevate planning standards, and advise project teams to manage risk and keep programmes on track. Your work supports clients across transport, water, buildings, energy and more, delivering projects that transform communities. This role invites strategic influence and hands-on technical leadership within a collaborative Project Controls community.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and scheduling across multiple programmes and provide insights for decision-making and risk management
• Develop and manage integrated project schedules aligning design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover
• Establish baselines, monitor performance and ensure accurate information for informed decisions
• Identify schedule risks and opportunities; shape mitigation and recovery strategies
• Facilitate planning workshops, lead programme reviews and drive cross-functional collaboration
• Review contractor programmes, compensation events and extensions of time to ensure alignment with objectives
• Champion planning excellence, governance and reporting standards across the business
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues and contribute to talent development

Key requirements

• Proven experience in project planning/scheduling in construction, infrastructure or engineering environments
• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related discipline
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6; strong schedule risk analysis and planning best practices
• Experience generating Earned Value and progress reports
• Ability to develop programmes from first principles and assess suppliers’ programmes
• Good understanding of design processes; knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 applications
• Knowledge of Project Management techniques per APM or similar learned societies
• Experience with major multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
