UX / Product Design Lead (VP)

Overview

In this role you will lead the UX and product design quality for Citi’s design-forward HR and product experiences, shaping reusable patterns and a robust design system. You’ll mentor designers, partner with research, product, and engineering, and push for accessible, high-quality experiences across enterprise-scale products. This is a chance to influence how millions interact with Citi’s systems and to advance a design-centric culture in a global fintech environment. You’ll work with cutting-edge tools and AI-enabled design methods to raise the bar and deliver impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead design quality across your product area and set standards
• Create and oversee wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma and the Design System
• Ensure designs follow best practices using research and testing
• Own the overall user experience, identify gaps, and drive improvements
• Review others’ work to maintain high design standards
• Define and champion reusable design patterns and contribute to the Design System
• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level designers
• Challenge the status quo with user-centered approaches
• Deliver design assets with clear engineering guidance and support
• Maintain accessibility (ADA/WCAG) compliance
• Stay updated on UX practices and AI-enabled design approaches
• Lead by example and help define team standards and practices
• Provide ongoing UX checkpoints with engineering to ensure build accuracy
• Manage timelines and risks, escalating as needed
• Foster constructive conflict resolution and cross-functional collaboration
• Contribute to the wider UX community to shape standards

Key requirements

• Significant UX Design experience with leadership across teams or products
• Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale or consumer design at senior level
• Creative design eye and consistency across work
• Excellent communication skills for senior stakeholders
• Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, AdobeXD, InVision
• Experience contributing to Design Systems and pattern libraries
• Ability to guide and mentor other designers
• Experience with AI-enabled design tools and workflows, including generative design and AI-assisted prototyping
