Overview

As an Associate in Moelis & Company’s Technology IB team, you help execute sponsor-led tech M&A and related financing transactions. You work closely with senior bankers and sponsors to drive analysis, modeling, and client-ready materials. You contribute to business development within the tech franchise and support complex execution in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. This role places you at the core of high-profile transactions, shaping outcomes for technology clients and financial sponsors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed financial analysis and valuation work (DCF, LBO, comps, precedent transactions; software/SaaS metrics).
  • Develop and maintain three-statement and sponsor-centric financial models to evaluate transactions.
  • Lead the preparation of sell-side materials (CIMs, management presentations, teasers, investor materials, pitch books).
  • Conduct company/market research to identify sell-side opportunities and strategic trends for sponsors and corporate clients.
  • Support transaction execution, including due diligence coordination and liaising with clients, sponsors, and advisors.
  • Build relationships with financial sponsors and management teams; ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Mentor and supervise analysts; contribute to business development and sponsor/sector mapping.

Key requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of investment banking experience in technology/TMT M&A or corporate finance, with sponsor-focused or sell-side exposure preferred.
  • Direct technology sector experience in software and data/analytics is advantageous.
  • Proven execution on 4–6 technology transactions, with at least 2–3 reaching signing/completion; experience with financial sponsors essential.
  • Strong analytical, financial modelling, and presentation skills; solid accounting and valuation knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; English fluency (additional European language beneficial).
