Gateley Legal seeks an ambitious Corporate Senior Associate in Birmingham to join our growing Midlands corporate team. You will handle a broad range of transactions and provide commercial advice, while mentoring junior lawyers and building client relationships. The role sits in a supportive, entrepreneurial culture with clear progression toward partnership and opportunities to lead matters alongside a partner. You will network locally, contribute to high-value deals, and help grow our Birmingham market presence.

Responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of corporate matters including mergers & acquisitions, private equity investments, exits, portfolio instructions, ECM, joint ventures, and reorganisations.
• Take ownership of matters and collaborate with a partner on complex/high-value work.
• Mentor junior team members and develop the corporate team in Birmingham.
• Strengthen client relationships and actively cross-sell services to existing and new clients.
• Develop a local market network to build connections in the corporate finance community.
• Support strategic growth of Gateley’s corporate practice in the Midlands.

Key requirements

• At least 5 years’ PQE with experience across a broad range of corporate matters.
• Ability to mentor junior lawyers and contribute to their development.
• Strong legal technical ability and the confidence to provide commercial, well-reasoned advice.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and engage in new business/cross-selling.
• Good negotiation skills, commercial acumen, and collaborative mindset.
