Construction Project Manager

Overview

In this senior role you lead complex, high-value construction, refurbishment and regeneration projects within NYH Property, combining heritage conservation with modern delivery. You provide strategic leadership, manage multidisciplinary teams and contractors, and ensure safe, sustainable, on-time delivery within budget and standards. You’ll drive stakeholder engagement across a live harbour environment and oversee a diverse project portfolio with significant public-sector impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex capital projects from concept to handover
• Provide strategic leadership and accountability for programme, budget, quality, and statutory compliance
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, contractors and consultants; coordinate stakeholders
• Oversee project risks, constraints and safety, ensuring health and safety compliance
• Act as liaison between stakeholders, partners and operational services
• Deliver across heritage conservation, refurbishment, new-build, infrastructure and public realm projects
• Support sustainability and climate resilience initiatives within projects
• Drive commercial and programme management to meet financial targets

Key requirements

• Significant experience in construction project management with a track record of delivering major projects up to 20 million
• Qualifications in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline (Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent)
• Prince2, APM or equivalent project management qualification
• Experience on heritage, conservation or listed building projects
• SMSTS certification; ideally CSCS Black Card and CIOB membership
• Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements and risk management
• Ability to operate effectively in complex and challenging environments
