Delivery Director

Overview

As Senior Delivery Director, you will lead large, complex government IT portfolios end-to-end, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery with high-quality outcomes. You will act as a trusted advisor to CXO-level stakeholders, shape strategic direction, and drive growth across multi-year, multi-supplier programs. The role emphasizes governance, risk management, and value realization within public sector frameworks. You will work across cross-functional teams to deliver measurable benefits for clients and the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale government technology portfolios (30m+) with full accountability for delivery performance, governance, quality, and financial results
• Oversee multiple concurrent programs and projects, ensuring alignment with client strategy and contractual commitments
• Maintain a proactive delivery culture with robust forecasting, risk management, and transparent stakeholder reporting
• Build and sustain senior-level relationships (CXO and Director-level) within government organizations
• Own programme financial performance including budgeting, margins, forecasting, and cost modelling
• Manage contractual obligations across various public-sector contracting models and support pre-sales and bids
• Ensure robust governance, assurance, and reporting; monitor KPIs aligned to client outcomes
• Lead cross-disciplinary, distributed teams and foster continuous improvement and knowledge sharing

Key requirements

• Proven track record leading complex government programs and portfolios above 50m
• Experience in large-scale transformation and policy-driven digital services
• Extensive experience engaging CXO-level stakeholders
• Success in managing distributed, multi-supplier teams
• Strong commercial acumen with financial modelling and margin management
• Deep understanding of UK Government procurement and governance frameworks
• Practical experience with Agile, Scaled Agile, MSP, and hybrid delivery
• Ability to manage ambiguity and risk with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
• UK Security Clearance (SC) eligibility
