Senior Safety & Risk Consultant – Human Factors

Overview

As a Human Factors Consultant you will deliver HF assessments across high-stakes infrastructure projects, blending qualitative and quantitative methods to inform design and safety arguments. You will integrate HF insights with engineering and safety teams and engage stakeholders to convey complex findings clearly. This role offers the chance to shape HF application in major programmes within a high-hazard environment, contributing to safer, more reliable operations. You’ll work in a collaborative, impact-driven setting that values diverse perspectives and practical rigor.

Responsibilities

• Deliver HF assessments across safety case, design and operational contexts
• Apply qualitative and quantitative HF methods proportionately
• Influence design decisions and safety arguments through HF insight
• Support hazard analysis, task analysis and human reliability activities
• Engage with multidisciplinary teams and client organizations
• Communicate complex HF insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

Key requirements

• Background in Human Factors, ergonomics or applied psychology
• Experience in nuclear or other high hazard industries (preferred)
• Strong understanding of HF methods and their practical application
• Ability to balance technical rigour with delivery needs
