Overview
In this hands-on Software Engineer role you will design, develop, and modernize high-performance desktop and cloud applications for Rock Physics. You’ll steer technical direction alongside the Team Lead and Product Owner, delivering production-grade software with strong architecture and modern practices. You will modernize legacy C/C++ codebases while preserving accuracy and performance, and embrace AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery. This position offers hands-on coding, collaboration across teams, and opportunities to shape scalable software in a global energy context.
Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and maintain complex desktop and cloud applications using modern practices (design patterns, SOLID, automated testing, CI/CD)
- Lead migration of mature C/C++ codebases to modern languages, runtimes, and UI/UX frameworks while preserving scientific accuracy and performance
- Adopt AI-powered tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
- Collaborate with Team Lead and Product Owner to translate requirements into maintainable technical solutions
- Escalate risks, trade-offs, and progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Continuously evaluate and adopt emerging languages, frameworks, cloud services, and AI/ML tooling relevant to the product
Key requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering for production-grade applications
- Strong proficiency in C#/.NET and C/C++ (ability to work across both in one product ecosystem)
- Undergraduate (or higher) degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- Experience with cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud)
- Fundamentals: OO/design, design patterns, unit/integration testing, Git, code reviews
- Hands-on CI/CD experience for automated build/deploy pipelines
- Experience modernizing legacy software (codebase migration and UI/UX modernization)
- Self-motivated, collaborative; strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
