Software Senior Engineer

Overview

As a Software Senior Engineer, you will help build Barracuda’s Zero Trust products and cloud services. You will design core components and a cloud-native policy enforcement engine, shaping security for endpoints and distributed systems. You’ll work across cross-functional teams to improve performance, scalability, and reliability in production. This role offers impact through architectural decisions, mentorship, and ownership of complex features end-to-end. You will contribute to a security-focused, cloud-native platform that protects customers at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core components of Barracuda’s Zero Trust platform
• Build and improve a cloud-native policy enforcement engine
• Integrate services across distributed data plane and security systems
• Analyze and enhance system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Troubleshoot networking and system-level issues in production
• Collaborate with engineers, technical leads, and cross-functional teams
• Senior level: lead design initiatives and drive architectural decisions
• Mentor and guide junior engineers
• Own complex features end-to-end (design, implementation, optimization)
• Influence best practices in performance, scalability, and security

Key requirements

• Intermediate: 3–5 years of experience, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, strong programming skills, solid networking fundamentals, troubleshooting and analytical abilities, collaborative in fast-paced environments
• Senior: 5+ years of experience, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, advanced proficiency in Go, Rust, or C/C++ with system design skills, deep understanding of Layer 4–7 protocols and secure networking concepts, experience building and operating scalable cloud-native systems, proven ability to design, optimize, and refactor complex systems, strong mentorship and cross-team collaboration
