Digital Lead, England & Wales

Overview

In this role you drive digital delivery and advisory for AECOM’s Water business in England & Wales. You will blend hands-on digital work with client-facing consultancy to turn strategy into tangible delivery and measurable outcomes. You’ll champion data-driven approaches, AI, and data science to raise efficiency and insight across projects. You join a cross-functional team to shape digital opportunities, mentor delivery teams, and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead digital delivery across multiple projects and frameworks in England & Wales as the digital lead
• Translate digital strategy into actionable workplans with measurable outcomes
• Advise clients on digital transformation, including data governance, operating models, and platform adoption
• Engage with Client Account Managers to identify opportunities and define delivery requirements
• Promote AI, machine learning, and data science adoption across projects and client engagements
• Identify automation opportunities and develop MVPs with scaling potential
• Support regional delivery teams in adopting digital solutions and upskilling resources
• Contribute to bid responses for digital-led opportunities and participate in proposals
• Facilitate client workshops and internal presentations to align strategy and demonstrate digital value

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline
• Strong experience in a digital, data, or technology-focused role within the infrastructure or water sector
• Proven track record of leading digital delivery across multiple programmes in complex environments
• Experience with UK water sector clients and regulated frameworks
• Strong data skills including data governance; Power BI and Azure; Python scripting preferred
• Ability to translate digital strategy into deliverable workplans with measurable outcomes
• Confident communicator capable of influencing technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience facilitating client workshops and contributing to bid responses
