Principal or Associate – Acoustics (Birmingham)

In this role you will lead and grow WSP’s acoustics presence in the Midlands from Birmingham, delivering flagship, technically complex projects across sectors. You’ll mentor junior staff and drive technical advancements with a client‑centred approach, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, value‑driven solutions. Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver flagship, technically complex acoustics projects
• Grow the acoustics presence in the Midlands and support team growth
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to their development
• Drive technical advancements and a client‑centric culture
• Collaborate with environmental, sustainability, structural, rail and mechanical engineers for integrated solutions
• Promote value over time by selling solutions and delivering client‑focused outcomes
• Support business development and growth across key clients and markets

Key requirements

• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
• Corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA / FIOA)
• Demonstrable experience in environmental and/or buildings acoustics
• Excellent technical, project management, presentation, report writing, commercial, health and safety, personal organisation and communication skills
• Strong client care ethos and ability to act as trusted adviser with commercial mindset
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and collaborative; willingness to learn and contribute to chartership
