Senior Document Controller

Overview

In this role, you will govern information flows and ensure data integrity for Balfour Beatty’s Power Transmission & Distribution projects. You will lead a document control team, collaborate with project stakeholders, and mentor junior controllers to uphold policies and processes. The position centers on establishing governance across BIM 360 Docs and client data environments, enabling reliable data exchange. This is a hands-on leadership role with a clear impact on project information quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Establish governance and ensure data flow to and from BIM 360 Docs, client common data environments, and subcontractor systems.
• Assist with set-up of projects in BIM 360 NextGen/ACC (folders, user rights, workflows).
• Support rollout of ACC to new projects and deliver training visits.
• Assist project teams in assembling information for project outputs.
• Enable reliable information exchange through a common data environment.
• Resource allocation to ensure the document control team meets demands and deadlines.
• Monitor and evaluate team performance; implement improvement plans.
• Foster team development and a culture of continuous improvement and career growth.

Key requirements

• Background and understanding of a variety of engineering projects and processes
• Experience in Document Control/Management
• Strong Leadership skills; proven ability to lead and mentor teams
• Effective communication, both verbal and written, with diverse stakeholders
